Well, well. Those who took part in the competition, they ranged from the over-confident to the downright nervous whose legs could be seen shaking, and those whose nerves caught on fire and could be plainly seen by their expression. There were those who were over-glamorous, they'd had been better off in a beauty contest, and there were those who dressed too casually, like they were off to a nearby kopitiam for an early breakfast and cup of coffee. There were the typical kiasu singaporeans, tuning and tuning and tuning, and there were those who even forgot to tune and had to stop after playing the first phrase on discovering that at least one of their strings had slipped more than a notch down, to tune.
The most suitable word for the junior category would be - fiasco. It truly was. The intermediate didn't live up to its name, two years ago it had better standard. The seniors? I think it's quite obvious who're going to clinch the tops.
Just a commercial break. -Is it your turn to go up on stage next to perform your competition piece? Have your nerves caught on fire? Worry not. We always have a fire extinguisher at the ready at every corner, should the YMS Auditorium burst into flames, putting the the other contestants and the public in grave, mortal danger. We would oblige most willingly should you ever find need of it.
